Official Launch of DELL Inspiron Z

The recently concluded Dell Musical was what I would consider a success.

Held as an official launch of the Dell Inspiron Z, the play was a treat to the 60 audiences in attendance.

This new range of Dell laptops positions itself as the slimmest and sleekest the market has to offer, and the sketch was written to communicate just that.

Pretty sleek, ain't it?

Yes, it's THAT slim. No, it wasn't photoshop-ed.

It was no easy feat, however.

The 15 minutes long performance was a culmination of 10 days of hard work.

In fact, I was rather surprised at the preparation needed for such a short performance.

Having decided on the script from day one itself, the casts was roped in the following day.

Among them is Eason, our Art Director – a bit of a shocker really, as I never really saw him as a performer, as good a singer as he is.

Art Director turned actor. Or was it the other way round? Mm ..

But stranger things have happened before, so why not?

The other 3 consists of Sarah, a Miss Malaysia contestant and a seasoned performer herself; Viry, a fellow colleague; and a certain Gedrick.

Pose, Sarah, Pose!

Peace, yo!

Gedrick - He must have been 10 foot tall or something. No, really.

I find him to be a rather pleasant character, but it has to be said that English isn’t exactly his forte.

As such, the initial stages of rehearsal were littered with mistakes.

That worry was soon put to bed however, as he proved to be a fast learner.

It certainly helps that the casts were increasingly familiar with each other as well.

It was during the latter sessions that I was treated to the musical talents of my colleagues; let it be the keyboard, guitar or mere vocals.

I can’t exactly say that I wasn’t envious.

Me? I could probably sing. Or was it just annoying sounds? Mm…

Anyhow, with the rehearsals going according to plan, the only other thing to worry about would be the props.

Having decided that the setting would be a classy restaurant, the props were to be in white.

What followed was perhaps the most extensive painting work I’ve ever gone through (The previous record stands at zero).

Suffice to say that I weren’t exactly proud of my ‘work’ and to give credit where it’s due, a fellow colleague did most of the painting – on top of covering my mess.

Ahh! Gorgeous! The chairs and the paint job, I mean.

Viry a.k.a The Maid in action.

Eason: "I'm charming, ain't I? ... Oi. Answer la. Oi."

Eason: "HAH! Gotcha!"

10 feet tall Gedrick in action. Doesn't he look like a professor or something?

Fast forward to the big day itself, it was a rather smooth sailing affair, bar one minor hiccup - the designated video camera ran out of memory space 2 minutes into the play.

The digital camera I have with me proved to be my saving grace, as I managed to get most of the play down.

A little shaky yes, but I suppose that’s better than returning empty handed.

The rest of the day was a scripted affair – the sketch finishing to rapturous applause, packing up and headed back to our office where we called it a day.

Being a trainee with no prior experience with events whatsoever, it proved to be quite an experience.

Rewarding, in fact.

Getting Krafted!

After weeks of planning and preparations, Kraft finally launched its “Kalau Keju,Mesti Kraft” campaign on 11 Aug 2009 at Damansara Uptown. It was a campaign to introduce the use of Kraft cheese in local favourites such as the roti canai and street stall burgers. So, let us proudly introduce to you the Roti Kraft and Burger Kraft!

All of us worked hard preparing for the whole event… the team had planned intensively for the presentation and games, the performers for the Kraft musical even had practices on weekends just for this!

Mee Goreng with Kraft Singles

Guests and members of the media started registering at 2pm, some even took pictures with the Kraft cheese mascot while waiting for the event to start at approximately 3pm.

Say "Kraft!"

The launch started with an opening speech by Mr Dieter Schultz, the General Manager of Kraft Malaysia.

Next up, the Kraft Musical. It was a story about a burger stall owner trying to convince his father, a mamak stall owner, to use Kraft cheese in their recipes.

The performers did a fantastic rendition about Kraft cheese using popular songs such as My Girl, Mamma Mia and Shanghai Beach.

Not forgetting the dance to Hitz.FM’s “I Got It From My Mamak”, which totally suited the play!

How can a food related launch NOT have food, right? Us Malaysians love our food! Our caterers prepared Roti Kraft, Burger Kraft, Mee Goreng Kraft, Teh Tarik and Kopi Tarik. Yummies!!

After filling the guests’ tummies, it was time to do a bit of exercising! We had a Burger Kraft eating contest, where participants needed to stack their own burgers and chow down within 2 minutes; and a Roti Kraft making competition, where the person who managed to flip the largest Roti Kraft got to walk away with a brand new digital camera!

Oh, and not forgetting our cute mascots who paraded all over the place!

At the end of the day, we were all wiped out but everything was worth all the effort. We worked hard, and we played hard too(well, at least the guests did). We’re looking forward to more events like this!

Tiggo and Me...

Hey guys, I'm Dennis and I'm the the graphic designer for Integrated Expressions and recently we did a launching of a car from Chery Alado called "Tiggo"

For me, i was put behind the console area. Where all the sounds, lighting and special effects crew were on stand by or in other words, had to do their magic on that very day.

So this very day, is my very first time behind this console thingy. I've never done this kind of stuff before yet my boss, penny had faith in me and ju winn to pull it off. Yes, this is our first time ever to do this kind of stuff and it's for a car launch! Did you hear me? it's an official event!!!

\
Yes, both me and Ju Winn were behind the console. we both were very nervous but we tried our best to stay focused and not be bothered by any distractions or anything that would disturb us. Fully concentrated on our task, we practiced and practiced like we never stop until we get everything right. I personally pressed the play button for don't know countless times just to make it perfect.

Like the saying goes, Practice makes perfect!

So yea, we rehearse and i keep visualizing the whole event in my head and kept it running in my head over and over again. I was nervous as normally i would be on stage performing instead of behind the scenes person.

So the event started and i keep reminding myself and ju winn not to be distracted by the dance and performance and focus on what we are doing.

So the the performance was great. Although i didn't really see what's really happening on stage, it was a great experience doing this.

Earth Hour 2009

When the hands of the clock indicated 8.30pm, on the 28th of March 2009, it was Earth Hour! Among a fresh list of celebrities in a tranquil yet refreshing place, Subak, were the Vocalholics who took part in voting Earth against global warming.

The Vocalholics in their finest belted three songs in acapella fashion, starting with Stand by Me, cheerful number to unite the already enthusiastic crowd. I'm Yours was nothing short of intimate when you dig in the sight of the gentle flicker of countless candles accompanied by the pitter patter of the flowing indoor river. By the last song, Lean on Me, the Vocalholics were already no stranger to the place as guests took part in joining the song. All in all, it was truly a wonderful experience voting Earth for the Vocalholics!

The session was an eye opener to many, who began to see life as not a series of coincidences but as a complex mix of numbers waiting to be decoded.

Dr Lenis shared his expertise on the importance of good dietary habits as well as some exercises to help us get through every day. In fact, Dr Lenis did a number of moves for the press on the floor, at the restaurant.

Pleasing The Crowd Is Not A Daunting Task For This Experienced Host

Charming the guests at the launch of the U Mobile dealer in Bandar Bukit Tinggi, Klang was Fabian Narcis, who is no stranger to the act of hosting. The launch was held on the 20th February 2009, at BBT One.

Fabian's wit and light commentary won the guests over, as he even went as far as to read out the menu of the day's lunch. His ease in handling the ceremony is apparent, thanks to his past experiences.

The ribbon-cutting marked the end of the ceremony and Fabian invited the guests to help themselves to the food.
