Skinz Launch - the Musical 21/12/2009
To everyone who has been following our blog thus far, merry belated X’mas & a very happy new year from all of us at IE.
We would like to say that 2009 has been a great year for all of us. As well as for the great two interns residing here right now from IACT. Needless to say, this is written by Calvin… a keen observer, a deeply motivated intern and a hardworker.
2009 has seen us at the helm of various impressive and successful projects and has indeed affected a well rounded positive growth both in terms of stature & experience.
Having set such lofty standards for ourselves, what better way is there to end the year on a high but with yet another mind blowing and memorable event ?
Allow me to introduce to you SKINZ Infinite, an extensive range of skin care products formulated to prevent premature ageing. “Prevent ageing before it even begins” - A pre-emptive strike, if you may.
And this is where we come in – to make the very first presentation of the products an interesting one. The launch was on the 21st December 2009.
For it, we came up with a Mini Musical with a comedic twist and boy, was it a good one!
If an intern’s opinion is of any value, I honestly thought it’s an effort far exceeding the expectations of not only the client’s, but also ourselves.
The best part is, we didn’t even rehearse much!
On to the cast, the special mention has to go to Chris.
Why?
Not because she’s our client and I’m obliged to do so, but rather because she IS our client and she joined us as one of the performers.
Now, she wasn’t the first nor would she be the last client who did that. What it represented however, was a break from a seemingly inherent template – that clients stays mainly behind the lines issuing orders, while others got their hands all dirty for them.
That she could actually sing and performed with such verve and conviction was of course, a bigger and more pleasant surprise than it already was.
The other 2 performers consist of much more familiar faces in Sarah Low and Eason Tang, both of whom are seasoned performers ( Remember DELL ? )
There’s even cameo appearances from Marcus ( A fellow intern ) and I – if you could call it that (AS MOVERS IN THE BACKGROUND – this part is added by Calvin’s mentor).
Anyhow, it goes without saying that I enjoyed the show immensely, even if I was on duty backstage and didn’t have as much of a clear view as I would have liked.
The audiences clearly shared my sentiments in this one, as they laughed and applauded every single joke dished out in the 15 minutes act.
It was, after all, tailored to their supposed liking, with timeless melodies from Teresa heng and an ever so popular cantonese opera being a particular highlight.
It was a perfect way to usher in the new year and while I may no longer be around come the next musical sketch, I am convinced, in my short 3 months stint, that any future undertakings will be an equally and hopefully more impressive feat than it already is right now.
